Mask standards define the minimum safety requirements that all players must meet when participating in regulated paintball activities. These rules ensure that all protective masks provide adequate impact resistance, secure facial coverage, and stable structural integrity.

Masks must meet one or more recognized testing standards, such as ASTM, ANSI, or CE ratings for impact resistance. These certifications verify that lenses, frames, and retention systems are capable of withstanding the impact of paintballs fired within regulated velocity limits.
