Overview
Rules governing regulator output pressures, safety valves, and compliance with event-approved operating ranges.
Key Points
- Regulators must operate within manufacturer-specified output limits
- High-pressure outputs may be restricted in certain formats
- Regulator tampering or modification is prohibited
- Safety vents and seals must remain intact
Details
Regulator output rules prevent unsafe pressure delivery to markers and ensure consistency across participants. Regulators must remain within manufacturer-specified output ratings and may not exceed event-approved pressure limits.
Most modern paintball regulators are designed for standard output pressures (e.g., ~450–550 psi), though lower-pressure systems are also used depending on marker design. Events may impose additional limits to prevent equipment damage or unsafe marker velocities.
Tampering with regulators—including removal of shims, springs, safety vents, or seals—is prohibited. Any modification that could increase output pressure or compromise safety valves makes the regulator non-compliant.
Officials may test regulator output during equipment inspections to ensure stability and legal pressure output.
These rules support safe marker performance and prevent unintended over-pressurization.
