Details
Penalty box systems apply to regulated paintball formats that use time-based infractions rather than immediate point or body penalties. These rules define how players serve penalties and how teams operate while a penalty is active.
When a penalty is assessed, the player is directed to a designated penalty area and must remain there until cleared by an official. Timing begins only when the player enters the box. Boxes typically include clear visual barriers so officials can monitor compliance.
Teams must play down bodies until the timer expires. In multi-penalty situations, overlapping or stacked timing rules dictate how many players may return to the field at once.
Players may not leave early, communicate in unauthorized ways, or interfere with match operations while in the penalty box. Violations may convert into additional penalties or misconduct actions.
Penalty box operations ensure that time-based systems affect gameplay in a consistent and transparent manner.
