Standards governing the markings, enforcement, and penalty implications of field boundaries in regulated paintball play.

Overview

Standards governing the markings, enforcement, and penalty implications of field boundaries in regulated paintball play.

Key Points

  • Boundaries must be clearly marked and maintained
  • Players stepping out of bounds risk elimination or penalties
  • Boundary rules prevent unsafe or unfair movement
  • Referees monitor boundary lines as part of zone coverage

Details

Field boundary rules define the physical limits of the regulated playing area and how violations are enforced. Boundary lines must be visible from multiple angles and durable enough to remain clear through rain, dust, and repeated player movement.

Common boundary markers include tape lines, physical barriers, or natural edges such as netting supports. Players who step out of bounds, intentionally or unintentionally, are typically eliminated to prevent competitive advantage.

Boundary enforcement also supports safety by preventing players from approaching structures, equipment, or spectators outside of the intended play area.

Referees assigned to boundary zones monitor foot placement, bunker interactions near edges, and potential unauthorized exits.
